The Italian Stallion makes his debut at the El Paso Community Foundation’s Plaza Classic Film Festival with a 40th anniversary showing of Sylvester Stallone’s Oscar-winning Rocky on Thursday, Aug. 11, sponsored by Capital Bank.
It’s one of nine more PCFF 2016 movies announced today in honor of our ninth anniversary. We’ve already revealed 30 of the 90 movies we’ll show this year, including Apocalypse Now, The Music Man, Young Frankenstein, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Cool Hand Luke, Dracula and the original Star Wars trilogy.
The Plaza Classic Film Festival returns Aug. 4-14 in and around the Plaza Theatre. Tickets go on sale in July. Festival Passes, which include admission to all ticketed events, are on sale now at plazaclassic.com/tickets.

EL PASO, TEXAS — The El Paso Community Foundation’s Plaza Classic Film Camp will be bigger and better this summer. The second annual camp, sponsored in part by The Borderplex Alliance, will run weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 1-5 and 8-12 at its new location — the El Paso Public Library Main Branch, 501 N. Oregon, in downtown El Paso.
Aspiring young filmmakers will be able to take advantage of the library’s auditorium, theater and Makerspace lab, which features editing stations and a sound booth.
Enrollment is open to children between the ages of 9 and 15.
Experienced teachers and professionals will guide camp participants to conceive, write, storyboard, shoot and edit their own films. The two-week intensive camp will be run by the Philosophic Systems Institute and will focus on the fundamentals of filmmaking, animation, acting, directing, and editing.
Their finished movies will be shown in a free, public program during the ninth annual Plaza Classic Film Festival, which returns August 4-14 to downtown El Paso.

Deadline for registering is July 25. Early bird tuition is $300 through July 17. Late registration is $325 from July 18-25. Tuition includes materials, lunch and snacks.

EL PASO, TEXAS — El Paso Community Foundation Plaza Classic Film Camp será más grande y mejor este verano. El segundo campamento anual de cine, patrocinado en parte por Borderplex Alliance, se realizará de Lunes a Viernes de 9:00 am a 4:00 pm del 1ero al 12 de agosto en su nueva ubicación, la biblioteca pública de El Paso ubicada en la calle 501 N. Oregon en el Centro de El Paso.
Los campistas podrán aprovechar el auditorio, el teatro y el laboratorio Makerspace de la biblioteca, que cuenta con estaciones de edición y una cabina de sonido.
La inscripción está abierta a jóvenes aspirantes a cineastas entre las edades de 9 y 15 años.
Profesionistas y Profesores con experiencia guiaran a los participantes del campamento para crear, redactar, filmar y editar sus propias peliculas. El campamento intensivo de dos semanas será impartido por el Instituto de Sistemas Filosóficos y se concentrará en los fundamentos del cine, animación, actuación, dirección y edición.
Las películas finales se mostraran en un programa público gratuito, durante el noveno Plaza Classic Film Festival, que regresa del 4 al 14 de agosto al centro de El Paso.
