The film that many — including the director himself — consider the definitive masterpiece of Steven Spielberg’s career makes a long-awaited appearance at the Plaza Classic. Liam Neeson stars as Oskar Schindler, the German industrialist who saved thousands of Polish Jews during the Holocaust by employing them as workers in his ammunition factories. Ralph Fiennes costars as the evil Amon Göth, who commanded the Plaszów concentration camp. Spielberg chose to shoot the film in black and white and on location in Poland to give it an extra, authentic documentary feel. The result is one of the best films about one of history’s worst chapters. — Jack Fields
