Fashion designer and filmmaker Romina Cenisio, an El Paso-Juárez native and Montwood High School graduate, did a photo shoot of some of her environmentally friendly designs in 2019 at Red Sands, the dunes on the far east side of El Paso that is home to a community of off-roaders. Cenisio, who has designed tour merchandise for Rihanna, came back a few years later with a camera crew to explore the area, its unique culture and Mexican American identity. After debuting at SXSW in March, Red Sands comes to the Plaza Classic Film Festival after screening at the Dallas Independent Film Festival and Los Angeles Latino International Film Festivals. — Doug Pullen
