Finalists in our third annual Plaza Classic Film Festival Screenwriting Competition will be invited to give short pitches of their screenplays to the audience and a judge. The judge, Carrie Silva, won last year’s screenwriting competition. Her short film of that script, “The Best Dive in the 915,” shows at 7 pm Friday, July 26 at Aaron and George’s Film Café. Competition coordinator Austin Savage will be on hand to coach the writers on their pitches. The winner gets $100. We’ll take up a collection for the runner-up, which will be determined by audience applause. — Doug Pullen
