William Shockley, who starred on TV’s Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman for six years, co-wrote and makes his feature film directorial debut with this psychological Western produced by El Paso native and University of Texas at El Paso alum Allen Gilmer. It focuses on a young man traumatized by the murder of his parents who must choose between revenge and the love of a woman. This neo-Western with a surprise twist blends a mix of earnest, fresh-faced young actors and veterans, such as Dermot Mulroney as a gunslinging mentor, Jacqueline Bisset as a madam, Dominic Monaghan, and noted character actors Grainger Hines (who co-wrote the script) and Chris Mulkey. Producers Tom Brady (not that one) and Gilmer, writer-director Shockley and others are expected to take part in a Q&A after the film, which releases September 26. — Doug Pullen
