Local Flavor is generously sponsored by the El Paso Film & Creative Industries Commission and the Texas Film Commission. See what local filmmakers are up to in this fifth annual showcase and awards program that helps conclude Plaza Classic 2026. More than $3,600 in prizes will be award to filmmakers, including a $1,500 first prize, plus college and high school awards. Local Flavor is a curated program of contemporary films that were made locally, set locally or have a connection of to the El Paso-Juárez-Las Cruces area. The showcase is curated by Emmy Award-winning Producer Javier Gonzalez of El Paso (Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, In the Summers); Jaime Mendez, Ed.D, the UTEP Assistant Dean of Students and a charter member of the PCFF program advisory committee; and Sophia Santos, a 2024 UCLA film school graduate from El Paso who now lives in Austin.
