Three El Paso grandmothers share favorite recipes and stories in the El Paso installment of a four-part series highlighting food and migration in four cities on or near the border, including Los Angeles, San Diego and Tucson. Produced by Dr. Meredith E. Abarca, a University of Texas at El Paso professor and curator of the El Paso Food Voices website and podcast, the El Paso segment features the food, families and stories of Leticia Leos Hernandez (co-owner of the Sausage Shop), UTEP history professor Dr. Yolanda Chávez Leyva, and Elisa Licon Southern. Following the screening in the MACC Auditorium, Dr. Abarca and the abuelitas will head next door to the Teaching Kitchen for Charla Culinaria: Continuing the Stories, a demo/discussion in which they’ll make esquites, sank (a Mexican street food) and agua fresca jamica. — Doug Pullen
