This program recaps last year’s third Film Race, a filmmaking reality competition that its creators, including El Paso’s T.J. Karam, hope to sell to a TV network or streamer. The Borderland Edition featured three five-member teams of area filmmakers — Gyro Studios, the Human Beans, and Intelia Films — competing for a $10,000 first prize. All three teams were followed by separate crews to capture the behind-the-scenes drama, tears and laughter of a reality show. All three films will be screened in the Redux program: Gyro’s Level Zero (which director Josh Pulido is turning into a feature length film premiering August 31); Intelia Films’ Wait for Me, Garrick; and the Human Beans’ Liam’s Void, which took the top prize at the closing ceremony on September 26, 2023, in the Plaza Theatre. The program also will include a sizzle reel from the competition and a post-screening Q&A. — Doug Pullen
