The Plaza Classic is thrilled to welcome Mira Sorvino to discuss her career and Oscar-winning performance in this Woody Allen comedy. Writer-director Allen enjoyed a string of hits in the mid-‘90s and one of his most successful was this quirky comedy about psychology and surprise. Allen plays Lenny. He and his wife Amanda (Helena Bonham Carter) recently adopted a baby. When Max quickly proves to have genius intelligence, Lenny sets out to find out who the baby’s birth parents are. Linda, the mother, is a porn star, prostitute, and one of the dumbest people Lenny has ever met. Mira Sorvino (a Harvard grad) became a star and won the Academy Award for her hilarious and ultimately endearing performance as the ditzy Linda. The all-star cast also includes El Paso native F. Murray Abraham, Claire Bloom, and Olympia Dukakis. Sorvino won the Academy Award for best supporting actress for her performance. — Jack Fields
