PCFF organizers have watched Ryan Rox’s personal and professional evolution through several Local Flavor film submissions, including 2022 Second Prize winner That Tingling Sensation. Hidden Flora is Ryan’s first feature-length, and their most accomplished film. We’re proud to host its Texas premiere. It’s a queer coming-of-age romantic dramedy featuring an uninhibited performance by lead actor Luca Silver. Hidden Flora is writer-director Rox’s unflinching look at sexuality, sexual preference and their own sexual evolution. It’s set in Las Cruces, where Rox is based, and told through the lens of protagonist Roxii, whose own sexual identity and views of sex are informed by a series of male relationships. It premiered at the QueerWest Film Fest in Missoula, Montana, PCFF will be the fifth to screen it, and first in Texas. We’re happy to support this emerging talent. — Doug Pullen
