This 8th annual showcase makes its third annual tour finale at PCFF. The 2023 version of the diverse, female-centric anthology features seven shorts, including Juarez filmmaker Persia Campbell’s Con Vista Al Rio, about the risky behavior of two children near the border wall. Juarense Veronica Palafox’s touching Bailarina *is about an elderly Alzheimer’s sufferer. Colombia’s Angela Matiz and Maria Matiz’s *Aurora and the House of Lights is about a young woman who escapes a grim reality at an arcade. Us in Octaves is a dance/music video by American Alex Mastoon. American Autumn Palen’s The Little Death takes a humorous look at a young woman’s sexual awakening. As Leaves in the Wind, by Spain’s Sofia Luz, follows two transgender women making a new life. The Words In-Between, by U.S. filmmaker Katia Kalei Barricklow, looks at language, identity and more from the perspective of Gen Z immigrants.
