Set in the 1970s when the local anchorman was king and there were no “anchor ladies,” San Diego’s Channel 4 news anchor Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) is suddenly faced with a challenge to both his belief system and his livelihood when Veronica Corningstone joins the news team. The beautiful and ambitious Corningstone (Christina Applegate) steals Burgundy’s heart even as he tries to ruin her attempt to become the first anchor woman in the nation. This hilarious and highly quotable movie includes Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, Fred Willard, plus a litany of cameos during what has to be the most off-the-rails on-screen battle between competing local news stations that will leave you in a glass case of emotion. — Stephanie Valle
