Three out-of-work silent film actors — Dusty Bottoms (Chevy Chase), Lucky Day (Steve Martin), and Ned Nederlander (Martin Short) — jump at an opportunity to make a quick buck at what they think is a private show in a small Mexican village at the invitation of the “infamous” El Guapo (Alfonso Arau). They soon learn the village has mistaken them for real gunslingers and expect the three amigos to rid them of El Guapo and his bandidos who have been terrorizing them. When El Guapo kidnaps the young woman who invited them, Dusty, Lucky and Ned must find their inner hero to rescue her and save the village. While not the box-office success expected with director John Landis, Chase, Martin and Short, Three Amigos! gained a plethora of fans with the easy chemistry of its stars and its supremely quotable dialog. — Erin Ritter
