Few Mexican folk heroes were more revered than El Santo (Rodolfo Guzman Huerta), the most legendary luchador south of the border. In addition to wrestling, the masked hero starred in more than 50 action films from the 1950s to the ‘80s, several of which were produced by Guillermo Calderon (of the Juarez film family) and restored by the late Peter Hamilton (brother of El Paso journalist Angela Kocherga) and his Mexico-based Merlin Movies. Santo y Blue Demon vs. Dracula y el Hombre Lobo was one of Hamilton’s favorites. Dracula has returned to take over the world, with the Wolf Man along to help. Santo and his sidekick, Blue Demon, are called upon to must stop them. There’s plenty of cheesy, low-budget fun in this English dubbed restoration, which is not marred by the kind of gratuitous content typical of the era. — Doug Pullen
