Co-written by Christopher Guest, who practically invented the mockumentary, and Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek) and directed by Guest, this ensemble mockumentary is required viewing for the genre. Centered around the fictitious Mayflower Dog Show, the film follows a hilarious and diverse group of competitors as they journey from all over the country to Philadelphia to compete for the coveted title of Best in Show. Featuring the top dogs of improvisational comic talent, the cast stars Guest, Levy, Catherine O’Hara and Jennifer Coolidge, among many others, many of whom also featured in other films in the genre, such as Guest’s Waiting for Guffman and A Mighty Wind. But this standout entry is deserving of the blue ribbon. — Lisa Elliott
