Everyone has their favorite of the 10 Rogers and Astaire musicals, but perhaps the most identifiable of them all is this 1935 classic from RKO Pictures. Astaire plays Jerry, a hoofer debuting a new dance routine for his producer at a London hotel. The steps disturb a young woman (Rogers) sleeping in a room nearby. Unfortunately, she complains about the dancing to Jerry himself, mistaking him for the producer. Sparks fly and so do their feet in this elegant screwball comedy, with its beloved Irving Berlin songs and its iconic Cheek to Cheek dance duet. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, this was the first film written specifically for this legendary screen team and would ultimately become their biggest box-office hit.
