Toward the end of the silent era, legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille reached his zenith with a series of Biblical epics. This grand telling of the life, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is widely considered one of the best. Though 50 years old at the time, H.B. Warner gives a moving performance as the savior. This was a very personal project for DeMille: The director considered it his life’s work to bring God’s message to the screen. It was this film that marked the opening of the now-iconic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The Plaza Classic is thrilled to welcome back renowned musician Walt Strony to accompany the film on the Wyler Mighty Wurlitzer Pipe Organ.
