College life (can anyone say “toga”?) was never the same after this crude college comedy’s late ‘70s release. Fresh off directing Kentucky Fried Movie (1977), John Landis turned his comedic sights on the ironies of frat life, championing the upstart Delta Tau Chi fraternity at fictional Faber College. John Belushi (Saturday Night Live, The Blues Brothers) plays the rowdy spiritual leader of the worst fraternity on campus, which is on the brink of being kicked out for violating school policies and being an embarrassment in general. Dean Wormer (John Vernon) puts the Deltas on “double secret probation” and enlists a rival to ensure they commit one more infraction. It’s a hilarious film, penned by National Lampoon founder Doug Kenney and Harold Ramis (Ghostbusters, Stripes). Animal House marked the film debut of a boyish looking Kevin Bacon.
