The ultimate film noir restored! Hitchhiker Al Roberts (Tom Neal) is drinking coffee at a roadside diner in Reno, Nevada, when a fellow customer plays a song on a jukebox reminding him of his former life in New York City as a piano player. A chance encounter on the road leads the hapless Roberts into a chain of events from which there is no escape. Nihilistic, brooding and dark, it features one of the most savage and unrepentant femme fatales in motion picture history, played by Ann Savage. The low-budget classic was directed by Edgar G. Ulmer (The Black Cat, The Man of Planet X), whose own car propels much of the plot.
