The timeless fairytale, based on Charles Perrault’s late-17th-century version, is charmingly told in this fan favorite from Walt Disney. Young and beautiful Cinderella is a servant for her wicked stepmother and stepsisters. When a royal ball is announced in the kingdom, it becomes Cinderella’s greatest dream to attend, and a glass slipper becomes the key to her future happiness. This was the Disney studio’s first full-length animated feature following World War II and its most expensive production at the time. The studio’s survival depended on the picture’s success. Cinderella became Disney’s biggest hit since 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, beginning a new golden age for Disney and its animation division. Classic songs include A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes and the Oscar-nominated Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo.
